Ben worked as an Athletic Trainer for eight years prior to receiving his Physical Therapy degree. Shortly thereafter he pursued his Doctorate degree as well as a specialist degree in Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy (OMPT). He is a board certified Orthopeadic Clinical Specialist (OCS). Ben has the most credentials, educational experience (13 collegiate years in the field), and hands-on training (certification in manual therapy, athletic training, and clinical hours) found in Northern Michigan Physical Therapists.
He was born in the Detroit area and raised in Petoskey Michigan. He has worked in Petoskey, Alpena, Gaylord, Rogers City, and Indian River for much of his professional career. Since 2004 he has been working in Indian River as your Physical Therapist.
Ben is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), Orthopaedic Physical Therapy Group, Michigan Physical Therapy Association (MPTA), National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA), and Michigan Athletic Trainers Society (MATS). He has taught anatomy, kinesiology, and personal health at the collegiate level. Currently, he is faculty of Macomb Community College and teaches the orthopaedic section of their curriculum. He has attended numerous continuing education classes and spent 13 years of college attaining his numerous degrees. Ben also presented (lectured) about spinal rehabilitation at the national level.
Ben is certified to perform FCE's and is an APTA Credentialed Clinical Instructor for student physical therapists. His specialties include spinal care, industrial/occupational medicine, athletic medicine, and challenging orthopedic injuries. He has helped numerous people in Indian River with joint replacements, rotator cuff repairs, tendonitis, back and neck pain, knee surgeries to name a few as long time manager prior to opening his own facility.
In his spare time he referees collegiate and amateur soccer, instructs youth referees, and assesses referees throughout the state. He is a member of the Knights of Columbus and active in the church. He was elected to the Parks and Recreation Board for Tuscarora Twp in 2008. Ben and his wife, Julie, live in Indian River with their three children, Andrew, Marissa, and Ty.
